DIY Publishing Broadsides

A broadside is basically a poster, something with material on one side of a piece of paper. For my DIY publishing class, I made three broadsides during the semester: one digital, one print, and one analog. The digital broadside had to be made completely online and meant for social media. The print broadside could be made with digital elements, but had to be a printed out copy. The analog broadside had to be made completely from found materials, in which I used Emerson student organization magazines to make.

A square image with white text reading "Autism is not an excuse for being an asshole!" A white silhouette of Elon Musk is on the bottom left quarter of the image. The bottom right says "Sincerely, Autistic People." The background is red.

Digital Broadside about Elon Musk’s problematic inauguration behavior being attributed to autism.

A drawing of Twenty One Pilots band members Tyler Joseph and Josh Dunn at their show in Boston is on the top third. The bottom third is a short piece about my experience seeing them in TD Garden in September 2024. The background is a dark red.

Print Broadside about a Twenty One Pilots concert I went to in September 2024. I did the drawing of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dunn at the top.

This is a collage of several student magazines and publications referring to the current geopolitical climate in the United States and at Emerson College.

Analog Broadside made with materials from Emerson student organization magazines I found in my dorm lobby. It talks about the current geopolitical climate in the United States (made in February 2025)
